Dependable official public documentation for its height, watercourse, facilities, or a permanently marked visitor route was not found during review, so this page does not repeat those details as established facts.
Original Ceylon Folk photographs identify the intended waterfall by a broad, sloping dark-rock face where the flow spreads before entering a small pool. The exposed rock on the right contains two conspicuous rounded cavities, while dense forest encloses the opposite side. These visible features distinguish Yahalathenna from nearby Lanka Ella, which is identified in this guide by its deep island-shaped pool, and from Bambarakanda's much taller open drop.
Independent destination references support the wider route relationship. A 2014 Lakdasun field report records Yahalathenna after Bambarakanda and Lanka Ella, describes a harder approach through plantation and stream-side terrain, and recommends using a guide. A more recent commercial trekking description also connects the three waterfalls and describes Yahalathenna as an uphill-and- downhill forest walk through dense vegetation with local trekking support. Those accounts corroborate the type of journey, but their distances and path details are not treated as current turn-by-turn instructions.
