Stage 02 precaution and landslide advisory

The organisation's 22 July route update describes landslide damage on a section between Deltota and the Hulan Ella Gala area. The network notice dated 4 August places Stage 02 under Orange Precaution, while the stage page carries an 18 August warning about slippery terrain and localised landslide risk. Check the homepage, Trail Watch, and app for the latest route-specific conditions before making plans, and do not hike this stage alone.

Official update checked: 24 August 2026. Read the latest official stage update.

About this stage

Stage 02 runs from Galaha Post Office to Loolkandura through Deltota and tea-estate landscapes. The official route divides naturally into Galaha-to-Deltota and Deltota-to-Loolkandura sections, with the longer, steeper climb beginning beyond Deltota. It passes points of interest such as James Taylor's Seat, Konda Gala, James Taylor's cottage, Sri Lanka's first tea plantation fields, and Loolkandura Tea Factory. Current landslide, access, and safety conditions must be checked before attempting this stage.
