Planning a Visit to Kandy
The Kandy collection ranges from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Arthur's Seat to Hanthana, Bellwood and Ambuluwawa. These places are grouped around a useful travel hub, but several lie well outside the city centre and require separate transport planning.
Use Kandy for heritage and nearby city visits, then evaluate mountain destinations individually. Ceremony schedules, religious etiquette, trail weather and road travel all affect what can be combined responsibly in one day.

Before You Build an Itinerary
- 1Check the temple's official schedule, ticket guidance and dress requirements before visiting.
- 2Do not assume Hanthana, Bellwood and Ambuluwawa are central-city attractions; compare their actual map locations first.
- 3Allow for city traffic when connecting a timed religious visit with an out-of-town destination.
- 4Reconsider exposed towers, ridges and viewpoints during thunderstorms, strong wind or poor visibility.
